About Me:
|
I live in a small town in west central Illinois. I have been licensed since 1981 and love weak signal VHF/UHF, play at chasing DX and contesting, enjoy emergency and public service work, experimenting with antennas, homebrewing amateur radio accessories and I like to teach amateur Radio classes. I am the Adams County ARES EC as well as IL District 6 ADEC, RACES DRRO for District 6 and ILARES ASEC, Digital Operations.. My wife, a son-in-law and a granddaughter are all licensed as well. I was first licensed as KA9KAL in 1981. I have a stealth wire antenna system at home for HF and small beams for 6, 2, 222 and 432. I do my more serious operating at the station of N9JF. I have helped N9JF assemble several towers and antennas for 160 through 1296. We do the ARRL VHF contest as a limited multi-op from his place almost every June using my call. I sysop a DX spotting node using CC Cluster, NG9R. You can connect to it via telnet at ng9r.homeip.net port 23.

Other Information:
|
My background is in paging infrastructure (manufacturing, testing and repair). I was employed by Quintron (later called Glenayre) Electronics. I enjoy cars, mostly drag racing, riding my vintage Gold Wing, spending time with the grandkids, and playing with computers. I am Christian and my faith is a big part of my life.

NG9R posted a comment on K9KEN's poll:I am the sysop for a DX spotting node and I often go for days without checking spots. I tend to use it more for checking what bands are open that actually looking for DX.
